Touchable Art

October 27, 2017

We walk into the hall, surrounded by masterpieces, eye-high in history. Of everything there, here's what gets a little girl's attention: a piece of "touchable" art, a fake statue modeled off the original, only visitors are allowed to touch this copy, to embrace it, to lean against it for a selfie. The little girl smiles for the camera and the look on her face is sheer joy. The museum is dedicated to works from the Duomo, the main cathedral in Florence. It is filled with beauty, but it's the smile that stays with me.
